Their ability to live this way does not come from wealth, personality, or personal strength. It comes from hope. It comes from trusting the work of Christ. Paul reminds them that Jesus fulfills the promises given to the fathers and opens the door of salvation to the nations. Because of this truth, hope fills their lives. Joy becomes possible again.
