We Carry Fire - Week 3

Week 3 Recap:

Power to Witness: Living Spirit-Filled Lives for the Kingdom

Introduction

Too often, missions and evangelism feel like “extra credit” for a few select Christians. But Scripture shows us that sharing the gospel isn’t a side project—it’s the natural result of living a Spirit-filled life. When Jesus promised, “I am with you always, to the end of the age,” He was pointing to the power of the Holy Spirit, enabling us to live boldly and become true witnesses for His kingdom.

The Promise of His Presence

After His resurrection, Jesus reassured His followers that He would be with them always (Matthew 28:18–20). But this wasn’t about His physical presence—it was about sending the Holy Spirit. Acts 1:8 shows us that through the Spirit, we receive power to become His witnesses, bringing the gospel from our neighborhoods to the ends of the earth.

The Power of the Spirit

The Spirit’s power isn’t about strength or status—it’s about transformation. In Acts, we see the Spirit break barriers of language, culture, and fear, empowering ordinary people to live extraordinary lives. This same power is available today: the Spirit fills us with conviction, courage, wisdom, and the ability to live as true followers of Jesus.

What It Means to Be a Witness

Being a witness doesn’t just mean talking about Jesus—it means dying to self. The word “witness” comes from the Greek word for “martyr,” meaning someone so transformed by God that they surrender their old ways. This isn’t about standing on a street corner; it’s about living so fully in Christ that His presence shines through every word, decision, and action.

Living in Spirit-Filled Power

When we yield to the Holy Spirit, our lives change:

  • Conviction anchors us in unshakable faith.

  • Courage gives us boldness to share the gospel.

  • Wisdom equips us to speak truth in love.

  • Fruitfulness allows us to see lives transformed.

  • Authenticity helps us live as the same person in private and in public.
This is what it means to be a Spirit-empowered witness.

Joining God’s Mission

The Spirit’s power isn’t just for a few—it’s for every believer. You don’t need to be a pastor or a missionary to be part of God’s global mission. As you walk closely with Him, He will use you to bring His kingdom to your workplace, your community, and even the nations.

Closing

God has given us everything we need to live boldly for Him. The question isn’t whether the Spirit has enough power—it’s whether we’re willing to step close enough to let Him use us. When we do, we stop being bystanders and start becoming witnesses, carrying His presence into a world that desperately needs it.
