29 Days to Live - Week 1

Week 1 Recap:

Living Like You Only Have 29 Days

Introduction

What if you only had 29 days left to live? How would your priorities change? Would you finally call that friend, forgive that family member, or spend more time fully present with the people you love? In Psalm 39, King David prays, “Lord, remind me how brief my time on earth will be. Remind me that my days are numbered.” This sobering reality is not meant to bring fear—it’s meant to bring focus. Over the next few weeks, let’s explore what it truly means to live like our time is short, and how doing so can lead to a richer, deeper walk with God.

Life Is Short—Make It Count

The truth is simple: none of us know how much time we have left. We plan for tomorrow as if it’s guaranteed, but James 4:14 reminds us that our lives are “a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.” This perspective shifts our focus from chasing possessions or status to pursuing what really matters: faith, relationships, and purpose. If we lived with the awareness that every moment is a gift, we would stop wasting time and start living intentionally.

Turn Your “When” Into “Now”

Many of us live with a “when-then” mindset: When I have more money, then I’ll give. When my schedule clears up, then I’ll spend time with my family. When I feel ready, then I’ll serve at church. The problem is that “when” rarely comes. Life doesn’t wait. That’s why God calls us to live in the present. Psalm 118:24 says, “This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” Today—not tomorrow—is where God wants to meet you.

Turn Intentions Into Actions

James 4:17 warns, “If anyone knows the good they ought to do and doesn’t do it, it is sin for them.” We all have good intentions—encouraging a friend, apologizing to someone we’ve hurt, or sharing our faith—but too often we delay. What would happen if you acted on those intentions today? One phone call. One conversation. One simple step of obedience. Those actions could change a life, including your own.

Give Your Whole Heart to Jesus

A partial faith will never bring the transformation we long for. Too many of us settle for “just enough Jesus” to feel safe but not enough to be changed. True life begins when we fully surrender. That means inviting Him into our daily decisions, seeking Him in prayer, and letting Him shape our priorities. When we stop giving God the leftovers and start giving Him our whole heart, He does more than we could imagine.

Live Fully Present

God has placed you in this moment for a reason. Whether you’re sitting across the table from your spouse, talking with your children, or catching up with a friend, be all there. Put down the phone. Quiet the distractions. Life is too short to be half-present. When we learn to value the present moment, we experience God’s presence in a powerful way.

Closing

You may not know how many days you have left, but you do have today. That’s enough. Over the next 29 days, commit to living with purpose. Turn your “when” into “now,” your intentions into actions, and your whole heart toward Jesus. Life is short—but when we live it for Him, every moment matters.
